Spiced Buttercream

Makes about 2 cups

Ingredients
  

  • ¾ cup (170 grams) unsalted butter, softened
  • ¼ teaspoon kosher salt
  • cups (270 grams) confectioners’ sugar, sifted
  • 3 tablespoons (45 grams) cold heavy whipping cream
  • 1 teaspoon (2 grams) apple pie spice
  • ½ teaspoon (2 grams) vanilla extract

Instructions

  • In the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, beat butter and salt at medium-low speed until smooth. Reduce mixer speed to low; add confectioners’ sugar, about 1 cup (120 grams) at a time, alternately with cold cream, about 1 tablespoon (15 grams) at a time, beating until smooth after each addition. Increase mixer speed to medium, and beat until smooth and fluffy, 1 to 2 minutes. Beat in pie spice and vanilla.
