5. Cardamom and Honey Cut-Out Cookies
This recipe is inspired by the holiday honey bread cookies of Croatia known as Licitars. Since the 16th century, these brilliant red cookies have been displayed as ornaments and edible gifts during the Christmas season. Our warmly spiced adaptation pairs mellow honey with bold cardamom and swaps the traditional gelatin glaze with an easier-to-maneuver and tastier Vanilla-Almond Royal Icing. 6. Mint Chocolate Biscuit Sandwich Cookies
Growing up, Amanda Frederickson’s favorite cookie was the mint Milano. She couldn’t get enough of that minty, chocolaty filling and those perfectly crisp cookies. Here is her version of that classic cookie. Traditional recipes call for the cookies to be piped out, but in order to make the cookies more uniform, she developed a dough that could be rolled out and stamped with a cookie cutter. Rich ripples of caramel balance out cranberry’s tart flavor in this elegant cranberry-caramel holiday tart. Pecans pull double duty as the toasted base for the crust and an additional source of crunch in the filling. Find more pies and tarts in our Artisan Pies and Tarts 2017 Special Issue!

Hailing from the Germanic region of Europe, this light, yeast-leavened cake is known for its signature tall, ringed shape. We replaced the usual raisins with chocolate chips because a little chocolate makes everything better.
